September 14th, 2009 CIBT Education Group Inc. (the “Company”) (NYSE Amex & TSXV symbol: MBA) reports that Dean Duperron, President of Sprott-Shaw Community College, a subsidiary of CIBT Education Group has been invited to present at the 2009 International Forum on Open and Distance Education to be held from October 16th to 17th, 2009 in Beijing, China, organized by the China Radio Television University (“CRTVU”). For the past two decades, Mr. Duperron has earned a strong reputation as an educator. He developed a series of successful community colleges focusing on providing “education that is locally relevant and globally recognized” with leading Western education standards. Mr. Duperron will be sharing his insights on how education shapes people and how to solve future problems anticipated in the education sector.
Established in 1979, CRTVU is a university under the direct supervision of China’s Ministry of Education with over 2 million students in its bachelor and diploma programs. CRTVU manages 44 provincial TV Universities as well as the Central TVU Tibet College. CRTVU offers over 580 programs in 10 major areas including Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medical, Arts, Law, Economics, Management, Education and History. Central TVU is a member of the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) and is also a member of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE).
China’s International Forum on Open and Distance Education is an annual forum dedicated to creating dialogue about distance learning. The theme for this year is to discuss the challenges and opportunities for open and distance learning and how lifelong learning will prevail in a global financial and economic crisis. Experts from Asia, North America, Europe, and the Middle East have been invited to speak at this forum.
