Company History

Foundation

Founded in 1994, CIBT began to build its foundation when it opened its first campus under an agreement with Beijing University of Technology (formerly Beijing Polytechnic University) in 1995. With official approval from Beijing Education Committee and the Higher Education Bureau, CIBT began recruitment and enrollment of students in December 1995. In its first few years of operation, CIBT launched numerous programs, including Business English, Corporate Training and International Transferable Bachelor Degrees. By 1998, CIBT received the approval of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council in China to deliver the City University MBA program at the CIBT School of Business. In May 2000, CIBT received a letter of commendation from the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges for its exemplary delivery of the MBA program to both corporations and individuals in China. To meet the demand for programs and facilitate enrollments of over 1,000 students, CIBT expanded its main campus to 20,000 square feet and added two new campuses in Beijing by year 2000.

Expansion

In preparation for the next wave of economic development in China, CIBT has established a solid foundation as a recognized Sino-foreign provider of advanced education. In 2001, CIBT received a top ten foreign-owned MBA program ranking from the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council in China and has continued to see increasing enrollments. During that year, CIBT also became the first school in Mainland China to offer Intel's E-business Solution Training Program and launched an e-commerce training and education program delivered to China's Ministry of Foreign Trade. In 2004, CIBT acquired from Weifang University, Beihai College which was renamed CIBT Beihai International Management School. As CIBT enters its next developmental stage, future plans include:

  • Expanding transferable degree programs and career certificate programs;
  • Introducing an international exchange executive training program;
  • Expanding MBA programs and introducing an Executive MBA program;
  • Developing and delivering online training programs;
